I've had the same thing happen...but there is another way out of it that worked for me. I had to do this somewhat blind since all I had was ____ instead of words... but it worked.
1. Open ooWriter 2. Open the 6th menu item from the left (this is tools for those who can read it.) 3 Drop down to the last item and click on it. This will open the tools section 4. When it opens the first item in the list to the left will be expanded. go to the second to last item and click (font replacement) 5. Unclick the checkbox and then click on the left most button on the bottom. 6. Fonts should immediately appear. Seems that the default font replacement in this version of OOo doesn't work right out of the box. (the one in 9.1 works fine) if they don't appear immediately .... close and restart ooWriter.
