one thing I didn't catch the first time... Evolution is a Gnome app not a kde app... so changes to kcontrol wont have much of an affect here. Try running gnome-control-center and adjusting things. I had my best luck when I booted one time into Gnome... made my font adjustments. And then when back to what I normally use. (iceWM) Evolution also has it's own font selector seperate from Gnome Under tools--settings--font preferences. I'm using Verdanna (a sans serif font btw) and Courier New for viewing and printing.
