The main reason I choose Acroread is the greater flexibility of 
printing - the ability to scale to the size of paper you want to use.  
I print out manuals in A5, for instance, which is a great deal easier 
to handle, and rarely is the print too small for comfort.  I don't 
think you can do that under gv or xpdf - at least unless it's added 
into the newest versions.
