> So maybe k3b runs differently under supermount guidance?

I have used K3B under both supermount, and no supermount. It has worked fine.

My only problems with K3B were when I was using different GUI burners:
X-CD-Roast and the like. The config programs all attempt to access the burner
in different ways. I stopped using them when I realied that K3B could do it
all, more easily.

I would rerun K3B setup, then:

I would open k3b from console: $k3b, so that the error messages show in the
console window. Then you should just use K3B like usual, until the error
occurs.

If one can't write audio tracks, I would attempt to write a wav file to the CD
as audio to make sure the conversion from ogg is happening. try using "lame
--decode yourfile.ogg" to generate the wav. Then try writing it using K3B,
and check "on the fly".
