If I'm understanding you right then, OpenMosix is a kind of Grid
Computing for Linux?


It's been a while since I messed with OpenMOSIX.
OpenMOSIX is basically just a kernel patch and subsequent setup of a config file here or there. The kernels at the site are RedHat kernels but I've never had any trouble with them.


I was able to install and get it working but I was never able to understand what good it was doing. Even if I set the process migration threshold (i.e. the percentage of CPU load at which new process would be started on other systems instead of locally) I was unable to discern any noticeable changes in performance.
