Not sure what's happening to your mc, but a few things that i noticed in the past about mc when I had lockups similar.. mc seems to very sensitive to the information in /etc/hosts Mouse configuration can upset it.. gpm and maybe Xwindows running on another terminal Just some ideas where to look... mc needs write access to ~/.mc dir in your home directory Cheers Mark
