been a while since I've been in 8.0  but instead of going into graphical
mode.  Try this.

ctrl-alt-f1

login as root and then run drakxconf This is an ncures based tool that
will allow you to configure your mouse again.  8.0 might have had
mousedrake but I'm not sure.. sorry don't have an 8.0 box around to
double check.
