Quick search: man -k <search term>
Detailed search: man -K <search term>
When in a man page, type: /<search term>

Search of the info pages: info --apropos=<search term>
in info, use the i command. (run: info info)

grep -rin <search term> /usr/share/doc


... most of which are options nearly as old as UNIX itself.
