I am having a US keyboard but would like my Multi_Key to choose
ligatures from the Latin 1 Compose map. How do I accomplish this?

I have tried including the following in /etc/sysconfig/i18n

  SYSFONTACM=iso15
  LC_TELEPHONE=en_US.ISO-8859-1
  LC_CTYPE=en_US.ISO-8859-1
  LANGUAGE=en_US.ISO-8859-1
  LC_MONETARY=en_US.ISO-8859-1
  LC_ADDRESS=en_US.ISO-8859-1
  LC_COLLATE=en_US.ISO-8859-1
  LC_NAME=en_US.ISO-8859-1
  LC_PAPER=en_US.ISO-8859-1
  LC_NUMERIC=en_US.ISO-8859-1
  SYSFONT=lat0-16
  LC_TIME=en_US.ISO-8859-1
  LC_MEASUREMENT=en_US.ISO-8859-1
  LANG=en_US.ISO-8859-1
  LC_MESSAGES=en_US.ISO-8859-1
  LC_IDENTIFICATION=en_US.ISO-8859-1

I can see that I get the right settings after starting X, but I do not
get any ligatures.

I have also tried adding the following lines to
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/locale/compose.dir

  iso8859-1/Compose     C
  iso8859-1/Compose     en_US.ISO-8859-1
  iso8859-1/Compose     en_US

to force a specific map. That has been in vain as well.

Any help is appreciated.

/Peter
