I am one who hasn't had problems, per se, with
supermount in 9.1 or 9.0 (or others). Supermount
causes problems, however, if you wish to use k3b, the
kde cdburner app. It is a nice looking app but I
cannot get it to work with my system setup with
supermount, though I have no problems with X-CDroast
or eroaster w/supermount.
So, I suppose it depends on your system and what you wish to do. The fstab entries required/created by k3b are incompatible with supermount (unless someone can set me right on this).
Praedor,
I may be the exception to the rule, but K3b and supermount work just fine on my Mdk 9.1 laptop. I've got separate mount points for cdrom and cdrecorder, and it seems to work fine that way. However, if I remember correctly, I *did* need to setuid root on the cdrecord and cdrdao programs. They are setuid in any case. This is obviously a security risk, but my laptop is mostly single-user (my wife occasionally plays Frozen Bubble on it).
