Thanks for the reply, Seppo. I'm on very unfamiliar territory here. I don't play games, so I've never kept up with what is happening on the graphics card scene, and I sometimes get caught out with the fact that names/phrases used don't always mean what I thought they mean <g>
Graphics acceleration is only important in so far as it is used in dvd playback - and my old Matrox G400 handles that satisfactorily. Since the 9200 is not mentioned in the 'families' on the ATi website, should I expect that it will function satisfactorily in basic graphics, though not necessarily giving much in the way of acceleration, rather like my current card? For 'video capture' they are recommending the TVWonder and TVWonder VE. When they talk about 'video capture' are they meaning capture from tv signals? Although nice, this is not important to me, but I do want to be able to capture video from my camcorder. I see that they say that video4linux2 is needed for video capture, and gatos for dvd playback. I would be grateful for any advice from you or anyone else with more experience of video card and video capture, as I am completely out of my depth here.
