I di remember that the old RedHat Systems had something like that built in - 
through linuxconf. 

You have however to archive a configuration for the "Switch Profile"to show 
up. You can then activate the restored configuration if you want to.

I do remember that back in tinme - with my 486DX2-55MHz Subnotebook running on 
20MBytes Ram - this was quite neat :) - I had built linuxconf into the 
rc.sysinit file to have it started right away for me to have the option to 
choose. I can't look at it any longer - as the Harddisk failed (cute 
500MBytes HD :)) ....

Mandrake has Linuxconf installed too - and as I just checked - these 
profile-switching do still work. Just don't forget to give the Profile a name 
you'll recognise and save it when it's doing what you want it to do.
