Anne, is var/ on / ? Why i ask, is because var is a culprit likely to grow if not treated right. - If you turn your comp off overnight you need anacron installed to clean out /var/log/ files else they just keep on growing like topsy. (cron runs logrotate at about 4am IIRC). - apache html files may be stored there (depends on OS version). A site growing as you add html and its pics means var grows. - mail and news may be stored in var/
IMHO usr/ grows very slowly... ie only as you install new software.
