Do you mean as srvers on your machine? if so, then the default "everything" setting will still allow them through.... > >>If you want to "fine-tune_ your firewall rules and policies, I recommend >>installing Webmin, and using that to set up the firewall. I find it to be much faster than the other machine (AMD K6-2 500), more than adequate for my uses. I usually have Kmail, Knode, Gkrellm, D4X, Netscape 7, Konsole, Quanta 3.1, Konqueror (in file management mode), and OpenOffice.org 1.1RC2 running simultaneously, with no noticeable slowdown. The video card is a Rage 3D 16MB AGP card. But then the 384 Mb of SD-RAM and custom kernel might help a bit there. As for what I do, apart from giving support to OpenOffice.org users, I also maintain the OpenOffice.org CD-ROM project page, and am producing the "official" standard ISO image (Planned for release to coincide with the release of 1.1 Final later this month ... <plug plug>), and to basically teach myself Linux administration, as I'm currently looking for work. And what is divx? :) AMD chips are what you need for video, not a Celeron (or a P4 either). > > Thanks for your help. > Olaf -- Alex Fisher OpenOffice.org Marketing Project Community Contact, Australia
