Well, offhand, one thing that I can think of is that there is some issue with the arts daemon and interaction with drivers on your sound card. My intermittent sound glitches seemed to get worse after enabling the arts sound daemon with the duplex functionality enabled. That is what allows multiple applications to play sounds at the same time. At the time, I figured that the sound driver didn't interact well with that functionality because the sound never had any glitches when I was using straight OSS which doesn't allow duplex activity. You might try diabling arts to see if that fixes things and if so, you will at least know the neighborhood of the error, if not the exact cause. -- Bryan Phinney Software Test Engineer
