Hi !

I try to compile current k3b cvs, but I don't get the auto* stuff to
work. I nearly understand nothing of that, so maybe i find here someone
enlightened.

I simply started as it is proposed by the instructions on their website
and got

*** Creating configure
aclocal.m4:5542: error: m4_defn: undefined macro: _m4_divert_diversion
aclocal.m4:164: KDE_PATH_X_DIRECT is expanded from...
aclocal.m4:5542: the top level
autom4te-2.5x: /usr/bin/m4 failed with exit status: 1
make[1]: *** [cvs] Error 1

Ok searching for the _m4_divert_diversion brought me to:
http://www.linuxselfhelp.com/gnu/autoconf/html_chapter/autoconf_15.html#IDX915
----
Future versions of Automake will simply no longer define most of these
macros, and will properly quote the names of the remaining macros. But
you don't have to wait for it to happen to do the right thing right
now: do not depend upon macros from Automake as it is simply not its
job to provide macros (but the one it requires by itself):

$ cat configure.in
AC_INIT
AM_TYPE_PTRDIFF_T
$ rm aclocal.m4
$ autoupdate
autoupdate: `configure.in' is updated
$ cat configure.in
AC_INIT
AC_CHECK_TYPES([ptrdiff_t])
$ aclocal-1.4
$ autoconf
$
----

Ok tried that and get the following :
......
# autoconf-2.5x
ac-wrapper: ouch, couldn't call binary (/usr/bin/autom4te-2.13).

or that it wants autoconf-2.5x

What is this all about ? I keep getting this weird stuff, not only on
k3b. Are files of kde broken or is the auto-stuff on mandrake 9.1
broken or am I just to stupid or what is this ? I tried removing all
related packages and reinstalled it and tried again with the same
result. I tried to with the admin dir provided by the kde-sdk package
instead of kde-common/admin to no avail.

If someone could give me a hand here i would be glad. I can live with
software that doesn't compile because it is in development, but this
stuff get on my nerves, the more, the less I don't understand it and
doesn't find usefull infos about it.

Hope somebody can help

Steffen
