Anne, you might want to take a look at this: http://www.arts-project.org/doc/handbook/ I would suggest playing with latency settings in the arts control panel in KDE. That may improve things. Also, increasing the sleep time so that arts daemon goes to sleep when not in use a tad quicker might help. I am pretty sure that the noise has to do with duplex activity but if you want to run more than one sound application at the same time, full duplex is the only way to do it. -- Bryan Phinney Software Test Engineer
