worst case it seems to be pretty comparable. Not to intensive on the serving comps CPU. Over the Internet I'm able to play MP3's without a hiccup if I'm on broadband receiving. One thing I do do over the Internet is use compression on my ssh stream. (enabled in the conf file). Gets me through a lot of firewalls too.
