For me also it worked out of the box. mdk9.1 has generic NVIDIA GeForce4 driver 'nv' as you have given in your XF86Config-4. Further in mdk I have problem of harddisk not getting udma5 as default in hdparm -i /dev/hdx with this A7N8X MB and mdk9.1. but it shows in knoppix 3.2.
