Worse comes to worse, try:

# vi /etc/xinetd.d/wu-ftpd

service ftp
{
        disable                 = yes
        socket_type             = stream
        wait                    = no
        user                    = root
        server                  = /usr/sbin/in.ftpd
        server_args             = -l -a
        log_on_success          += DURATION USERID
        log_on_failure          += USERID
        nice                    = 10
}

** Change disable to = no

Then

# /etc/rc.d/init.d/xinetd restart

ftp away.

THEN DISABLE wu-ftpd and restart xinetd. You don't want to leave wu-ftpd up.
