It requires three disks though. It allows for one disk to be removed on failure, a new disk to be installed, and the data to be rebuilt from the other two disks. Excellent for mission critical stuff. The data effectively gets written 1.5 times across the three disks. No hardware RAID (on i586 architechture) supports this to my knowledge, but then it was attested that linux software raid was always better anyway:) -- Michael
