: Problem is that the normal PowerPack consists of 7 CDs but the clubbies
: were only offered the first 3 CDs. So in package selection you are able
: to select packages which are on the commercial apps CD in the PowerPack
: but not part of the download.
Why the deuce didn't they adjust the hdlist.cz files to match what
they provided to club members. I shelled out $120 specifically so I
could download the Powerpack stuff and be off and running. The least
Mandrake could have done for us "paying customers" is get the d/l
version correct instead of what appears to be a hack job. But I won't
go into that now.
: Simply speaking: You should not select any package which is in the
: hdlist of number 4-7.
Right.
: What can you do?
:
: First you can have a look at the CDs with any filemanager, Linux or
: Windows, no matter. Look into the directories "RPMS" and list the files
: there. Then avoid typical commercial software in your package selection.
Ok, this helps. Thanks. It also confirms what I've learned
in goofing around with this.
Since I get the digest form of this list I have to wait some time to
see replies. Working into the wee hours last night I actually figured
some of this out on my own.
So, for example, on CD1 I find the file `pkg-9.2-FiveStar-i586.idx'
which has nice entries like:
MandrakeLinux9.2-Sources-1 tetex-doc-2.0.2-10mdk.i586
Well, tetex-doc is one of the items I selecteded---hardly a commercial
application. But "Sources-1" is not one of the three CDs provided to
Silver club members. Thanks Mandrake! (Why "tetex-doc" is considered
a "Source file" I have no idea. It looks like someone said "hey,
there's some space left over here on the Sources-1 CD so lets just put
some of the leftovers there. -:))
I know, I know. I could go over to the ftp site and download it by hand.
Let's not go there. :-)

My memory may be failing me but, as I recall, when I did that it just
went to the next stage of the installation skipping the rest of the
install. (There was about 1 min of software installation left on the
time slider.)

That's what I'm in the process of trying to do now.
I'm struggling with "urpmi" on the commandline but I'll get it
eventually. In fact just to force the issue I gave the
urpmi database a frontal lobotomy with `urpmi.removemedia -a'.
So now I _must_ learn how to work urpmi!
I didn't know that `ezurpmi' was working for 9.2. The big red
message at the top of <http://plf.zarb.org/~nanardon/> seems to
say otherwise. I'll check it out.
Thanks for help from both of you!
