Hi there are two patches in bugzilla that enable importing existing GThumb metadata, and iView Media Pro meta data (in fact also existing F-Spot meta data). http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=322366 - GThumb tags http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=342137 - F-Spot tags Perhaps you can write a small patch your self?
