Frederic, I also have thousands of photos with IPTC info in them. I have a script that changes the IPTC info into XMP. However, it will need slight modification to work with valid IPTC info as the program that wrote my IPTC tags was flawed and used nonstandard names. Write to me and I'll send it to you if you need. Also, if the list wants, when it is fixed to work with standard IPTC tags I can post it to the mailing lists for the archive purpose.
