Hi There's a request filed already! http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=324391 I believe that if you post a patch there many people (me included!) will be happy to test and use your modification. As for the inclusion in F-Spot, I'm not a mantainer but since face detect is something awaited for long time there are big chances that it will make into the code not far in the future.
