First of all, make sure you are using sqlite3 (you said sqlite and if that's
the case that's why you can't open it... if that was just shorthand for
sqlite3 then there is a problem).

What version are you using? It sounds like a bug that was fixed in 0.8.2
regarding incorrect dates and times.
