Ha, now the trick is actually to find a smooth, low tear-strength (berm
generating) asphalt surface with a lot of participants so it gets a berm.
It used to be one had to find a bumpy, weathered WWll concrete site to
practice upon for Nationals
I haven't been able to run on one of those in about 5 years since we lost
Davis Monthan AFB.

I am not worried about running on concrete. I just want some quality
asphault. And HPT aint it! Someone mentioned "pig slop", that is an
excellent term for HPT solo pad.

It sounds like the tables are turned around for us drivers who do not
have concrete to run on during the year. Ever since before 1988 it has
been concrete, now it is asphalt. Long overdue. I am not saying that
you won't do very well at Nationals - just that the "concrete advantage"
(having a good number of concrete sites to run during the year) is now
gone.
