You can run the poly belt very tight. The aluminum gears wear out, which makes
slipping more of an issue. If it's been slipping a lot, you've probably worn
the gear out and need a new one.

going from a 3.45 to 1 to a 5.0 to 1 to run autocross. The car will light the
tires up some times but other times it I can still bogg it down in my other car
with the higher gearing it is next to impossible to bogg it down. Right now I
hear the belt slipping from a dead stop when I really get on the gas... I was
wondering what is your thoughts about going to a chain. How tight can I make
the poly can it be too tight.. I was told that the poly was faster for several
reasons. The poly does not have as much drag as the chain.. Also the poly does
not have as much vibration.
