<<<My tires were new goodyears running 11psi front and 10.5 psi rear
first heat
cycle first lap.>>>
That's probably close enough to not be a problem
<<<What and where are counter weights.>>>
Corner weights are the amount of car's weight supported by each tire.
For example, if you had an absolutely even balance front-to-rear and
left-to-right, an 800 lb car would have 4 equal corner weights of 100
lbs. In practice, they are never this simple. There will be
significantly more weight on the rear, and the cross-weights (wedge, in
NASCAR terms) are rarely exactly at 50/50%. This is one of the basics
of setting up a car's handling.
<<< Don't know about rake. >>>
Rake is the difference in ride height between front and rear.
If you're really just starting out, I STRONGLY suggest getting a book
or two on racing setup. Carroll Smith's books are really good, as are
a few others that talk a lot about suspension setups. Although a F500
rear end works a bit different from a fully-independent style of car,
the basics are the same.
Again, though - you should check out all of the components for 'play'
or looseness. Next, I would check for toe-out and/or insufficient
caster.
Hope this helps.......
