Ed, We move bars around to keep from being bruised and use dense padding for the rest. There is not yet a F500 built that does NOT have to be modified to fit the driver. The front down bars (from the main hoop foward) are usually the first to be modified to clear the shoulders and the hands while on the steering wheel. We do it in such a way that the body panels do not have to be modified. Also, a heel stop along with a seating position with knees bent keep the feet and legs from bouncing around. The seat cushion is poured with high density foam. I am sure that there are other ideas that can be beneficial to avoiding bruises.
