I work at a somewhat large Volvo dealership, and we got a nitrogen machine a
couple months ago, we also are inflating any new tires we sell with nitrogen.
(along with my race tires)!
trick machine, 4 hoses connect to the tires, you set your pressure, and press
start. The machine deflates the tires, then inflates them with the nitrogen,
then does this 3 times to get and "old" air out. final time the tires are
inflated to whatever pressure you had set. pull off the hoses and install green
valve stem caps and its good to go. Check out this web site for more info

<<<I recently was told by an engineer friend that Costco - the discount
warehouse people - now offer to fill your tires with nitrogen as part of a new
service program designed to increase your gas milage and make your tires live
longer ! >>>

That's a great idea. Unfortunately, the last time I sent my wife to Costco for
a pair of tires for the FRONT of her van, the installer flat refused to put the
new tires on the front. He said it was company policy that he had to put the
new tires on the rear - no exceptions. For a front-wheel drive vehicle, this is
stupidity. They are now off my list of places to buy tires.
