Sean,
Thank you for reaching out to your BOD member and outlining the next steps
we all need to take to push this measure through. We should all contact our
local BOD members immediately and request the reconsideration. I also agree
with and like Sean's idea for voluntary contributions towards testing with
the benefit of receiving the results when complete. I think I know somebody
that is extremely qualified to do the testing and might be willing.
Stan,
Why would the board be swayed by some member letters and a builder against
the rule change when we handed them 42 members and a builder in favor, along
with 100% CRB support and recommendation? Did they have 43 member letters
against it? If not, I'm still searching for the logical explanation here?
I've always held a very positive opinion of our BOD, but I'm starting to get
concerned here and think that maybe all the BOD curmudgeons on our list are
right.
I will lobby them hard, again, and give our leadership a chance to serve and
represent the majority or their constituency, instead of special interests.
I wonder if our BOD knows Jack Abrahmoff?
Shiny Side Up,
Joe Palmer

Subject: RE: [F500] New Fastrack - BOD rejects F500 puck rule change
I sent this post without the proper thread title on it. Sorry.
I just spoke with our Oregon Region representative on the BoD and asked
him
directly why the puck rule change was rejected when the CRB was in 100%
support of it.
His response was that a F500 car manufacturer (he didn't recall who) as
well
as a few our members actually wrote to the BoD requesting the change not
be
made. He said that what really got their attention was that a
manufacturer
was expressing concern about going to this new size puck.
He also said that if our members would write directly to the BoD asking
for
reconsideration of the rule change at their December meeting he would
perhaps lobby harder for the change to go through. Our representative is
Howard "Duck" Allen and is the first person I had contact with when I
started racing this year and I have to say that from my personal
experience
he is a man of his word. Something else that would help a lot is if
someone
could possibly do some testing of this new size puck and provide a report
on
the benefits or non-benefits to making the change. I'm not an engineer
and
am certainly not qualified to do this but I know we have some very
talented
people in our class who could probably do some effective testing. I would
personally be willing to send a $20 bill to whoever wants to test this new
product to help with the cost. If we all sent $10 or $20 we would no
doubt
have enough money to cover the cost of the pucks as well as some track
time
for a test. In return, all who contribute money get the results from the
test.
If you guys really want this rule change to happen, it can. We just need
to
get a little more organized. I will put as much pressure on the "Duck" as
possible to make sure he pushes for the change so long as we do our part
and
step up with the requests for reconsideration.
Thanks,
Sean
