Ok Jim I was ready to say let them have the disc brakes and limited slip diff, but you keep talking about BUDGET class. Solo V maybe in a budget class, but a good one is not a low budget car. To have a good engine builder do up a 1600cc dual port VW engine you would be looking at almost being able to buy a National Road Race Car with a very good Rotax, which we all know makes a great Solo II F500 with a few adjustments! Not to mention the $2000 to $3000 to have someone build you a transaxle with the correct gears. Look at what is happening in Road Racing. People with brains and not a lot of money are looking at the different classes with bike engines. Tired of spending $12,000 for a FF engine or $10,000 for a 1200cc legal FV engine.

On the other hand, don't make us put weight in our cars (I lost 30 lbs too) let them spend the money for the diff and brakes. Why should we change when we have, I know people are getting tire of hearing this but it is the truth, GCS LEGAL Formula CARS!!!!!!

Subject: [F500] Gaining Equity in F Mod the Cheapest Way

Guys,
Changing weight, given the parameters, is still the cheapest way to gain equity. BUT, this assumes that the SV's are all mostly maxed out in preparation level. This must happen first BEFORE any weight changes are considered. And, a SV weight can be reduced as well as a F440/500 weight added. Anything else will be more expensive and not in the spirit of a BUDGET class.
