Gene,
One way to categorize racers is to check each SCCA division's permanent
number list which is exclusive to racers. For example:
http://www.sowdivscca.org/numbers/grp_three.html
indicates entrant's (not necessarily driver's) name, class, & number.
Since the price of a number is typically low and most regular racer's have
at least one permanent number, why not get one person from each division
(yes, I volunteer for SW Div.) to submit a list of F5 racers with permanent
numbers. Once posted, those racers that are not included should comprise a
small (and rather anxious) group. The entrant is usually the owner of the
car and, in our level of racing, the owner is usually the driver.
Definitely not "spot on" but, will definitely get us close to identifying
all of the F5 folks.

Actually, the way I read the reply, if we can get everyone to send a
single person the names of all the F500 drivers who ran last year, we
could get contact info from the National Office.
I feel I'll regret this, but everyone collect the names of F500 drivers
in your area (Club Race and Solo) and send them to me at sspiffylist @
gmail.com. I'll put together a list and ask the National Office for
contact information. When I get that I'll put into a useful format for
mailing labels and we can go from there. Obviously, I won't get contact
info for anyone who isn't an SCCA member, but we'll get at least all the
club racers and national event soloers (soloists?)

Bummer. Gene that was a good try though. Ted Rudolph thanks for your

Makes one wonder what happens to all that info. we put on the entry
forms.

I actually asked SCCA if it was possible to get a mailing list of all
Regional and National entrants for a certain class and here's the
answer I
got back (in less than 24 hours!)
So, if someone collected a list of all the F500 entrants from last
year, we
could get a useful mailing list. Then we could do a survey that would
have
more validity, but it would cost postage.

Hi Gene.
In response to your question about getting a mailing list of all
regional
and national drivers in a particular class in 2006, the answer is not
easily. We do not track drivers by class at the National Office. We
keep
the master driver database as part of our membership information, but
to
pare it down to specific class participants would require reviewing all
the
results from all events and retaining only specific classes which we do
not
have the ability to do electronically at this time nor do we have the
resources to pull it manually.
If you can identify the participants, we can provide you with their
contact
information. I'm sorry that we can't be of more help at this time.
Sincerely,
*Terry*
