OK Chuck, put the rolling papers away and stop typing!!!! I was willing to listen, up until you said the 440 Kawi was your motor of choice!!! That motor is so far off the map it's not even funny... Did you ask Don how many new cars he's built in the last 10 years with 440's? I think I can answer that for him.... Pi R^2, 1.23x10^23/2rad-3=.....ZERO...How many new cars has Q built with 440 in them in the last 10 years....ZERO So you can still run a Kawasaki in a F500 car, and you can still buy enough parts to keep it running, but it's still a non competetive motor. Well if everbody was running on non competetive motors, it would be all the same right??? You what they call that??? Vintage racing.. The FF1600 and FF2000 history is a pretty doggone powerful argument for a "forever" motor. The much newer new Zetec 2L has not become the dominant motor/car. Looks like it could be going the other way- The AMW 500 was newer and it failed (because it was junk). It could have been the "forever" motor for F500. The 494 is still the most popular motor. The 493 is nice, but not proven any better nor as popular. Last time I spoke with Don Clar, the mfg of the previous generation Novakar, he said he couldn't sell any of the new 493's on his shop floor. With or without a car. The Kaw is still my particular motor of choice. We have plenty of choices and no one has an actual problem getting parts for any of them. The new Artic Cat F1000 2-stroke is stomping all the bigger bore 4-stroke sleds like the Apex. F1000 is quiet, meets emissions. None of the OEM's are allowed (assume 2 or 4 stroke) to reflash their ECU's for racing applications this year forward.
