FYI Guys.... I posted this on the Apexspeed site. Feel free to email or call if you would like more information.
APEXSPEED: I'm happy to say that the WDC Region Competition Committee voted this evening to increase the number of race groups for the MARRS series from nine to ten for 2007. There will be two groups for formula cars as in the past and there will be an additional closed wheel group created to help with the high car count those classes are experiencing. I will post the official format for the MARRS events when it is made public however at a high level this is what it will look like. The format will be two, fifteen minute qualifying sessions however the clock will not stop for black flags, red flags or any other impediment to qualifying. Every effort will be made to ensure each group gets at least 20 minutes of qualifying time. The races will continue to be sixteen laps however a thirty minute time limit will be place on each race. If a race group has fewer than 16 cars the number of race laps will be reduced to equal the number of cars. For instance if a group has 12 cars the race will be shortened 12 laps. The number of cars will be based on the number who qualified for the race. Late entries will be dealt with by the CS. I sincerely thank everyone for their support and desire to reach a compromise. I would like to say a special thanks to the spec miata drivers rep who was one of the strongest supporters of the compromise, without his support and the support of many other closed wheel drivers reps and specialty reps this compromise would not have passed so effortlessly. In the end everyone worked together in a friendly and professional manner for the good of the club and it's members. Many thanks again, Chas --------------------------------- Have a burning question?
