That writer/tester with the advice was Tom McCahill.

Anyone remember his evaluation of the Bocar?
That was a chevy powered version of the Ford GT40 for the street in about 1965.

Back before many of you all were born there was a famous auto editor for Popular Mechanics mag who used to do road tests of cars back in the mid-fifties. When asked about buying used sports cars he replied that he would rather buy a used snake!!(The same could be applied to buying used race cars)
