In the mid 70s I was a pretty serious motocrosser, we hung out with some of the local dirt track guys and one of them went to a night MX with us. It was at Milan Michigan and I believe about July of 1976. Mike Parker ( cousin of Scott Parker) crashed a 125 and managed to break both thumbs. He refused a ambulance ride to the local hospital so we loaded up everything and headed back to a Flint hospital. At about 2am he finally comes out of emergency wearing a hospital gown and cutoffs. He had casts on both hands from the tip of his fingers all the way to his elbows, the thumbs were sticking out at about 45 degree angles plastered all the way to the tips. He's being pushed in a wheel chair and not looking happy. There was 3 or 4 of us hanging around waiting for him so we could take him home and unload the stuff. You probably had to be there to fully appreciate the comments....."Mike...how you gonna pee?".... "Mike...how you gonna wipe your butt?" " Mike...how you gonna jerk off?" It all went downhill from there. Even the ER nurses were about rolling on the floor! We had great fun with him for the week it took before he begged the doc enough to at least free up the fingers.
