Go to Apexspeed.com and look at the thread they were just running yesterday about drivers suits. It might be to your benefit to register on this free site as there are many famous and knowledgeble people who have raced formula cars for years and there is a wealth of info available there. I have worn a 3 layer suit with no underwear and a one layer suit with Nomex and then carbonX under that. It gives you three layers but the carbonX takes quite awhile to burn. CarboinX also wicks the sweat so you do not parbiol from steam in your suit while getting out of the flames. Do not wear any regular cloth underwear (no jock either). You do not want anything under your suit that will flame up from heat before the firesuit burns through. You alkso do not want the nomex to shrivel and also stick to your skin thus the carbonX next to your skin is a really good deal. As far as arm restraints go there are pros and cons to having them sewn to your suit. Read the threads from the guys who have been in fires on the Apexspeed site. This will be the best info you get.

Subject: [F500] Driver's Safety Equipment

Hi all,

Now that I've found a car, it looks like I'll be able to do a driver's
school in March. Aside from the requirements listed in the GCR
section 9.3.19, is there anything I should look for in a drivers suit,
and related equipment? I can get a good deal on Alpinestars... do
they make good stuff?

Thanks!

-Chris
