Alpine Stars are great!! Pick your shoes and Gloves on fit & SFI. They are
both the conduit to what's going on with your car. Driver preference is
everything here. GO for comfort not price. You want tactile feel and
snugness on both.

bigger V nose trailer that can handle two cars.
If interested, give him a call and make an offer that is reasonable :-).

I am almost positive that I would be better off WITH the injection system.
The previous owner said they could never get it to meter properly. If I
knew what to replace I would do it. The car has run fine just with the
fuel/oil mix. I run a 45:1 mix.
JV, what are you doing with your Zink? Autocross or roadrace?

PLEASE, no lectures about how I will not be competitive with the Kawi or
my Zink. :)
You won't get any from me. I've got a Kawi and a Zink myself. Just bought
it last year at about this time.
As to the oil pump issue, I know from nothing about the rules, but I'm
pretty sure that you are better off keeping the pump functional. It
squirts oil right into the crankcase, and into the cylinders. I just got
done rebuilding my motor and found the system is really quite simple.

Taking a guess, I would say that the metering is controlled by the jets.
From what I've seen, the ones in the intake bubble only a bit and they
have
a very small jet. The one in the crankcase appears to put out quite a lot
more, and it has a much larger jet. I would double check that with someone
that is an old hand with snowmobile repair, ie someone over forty in the
business.
JV, what are you doing with your Zink? Autocross or roadrace?
I autocross and this coming year I plan to get into solosprints on
roadcourses. None of that wheel to wheel stuff for me. I'm too old and
brittle.

system. The previous owner said they could never get it to meter

I just checked my manual, and it looks as though the metering is done by
the pump itself. The lines to the cylinder should flow 1.7 - 2.0 cc/min. @
3000 RPM with pump lever wide open. The line to the crankcase should flow
3.4 - 4.0. The doodads at the end of the lines are just check valves with
banjo fittings. If you don't get these numbers you need a new pump or
continue on as you are.

Ed,
All the major trailer manufacturers have factories in northern Indiana.
I don't know how far away that is from you, but you can save some money by
taking factory delivery. You can also price shop any dealer in the country
and arrange to pick up at the Indiana factory. I am picking up my Pace
trailer this weekend from another of their factories in Georgia. I shopped
around and got a great price from a Pace dealer in a different part of
Georgia. Look up Dorsey Trailer Sales on the internet. They are good
folks and easy to work with.
Also, when I ordered mine, Pace had a special offer for SCCA members for
a free door caddy on certain models. Mine didn't qualify, so with a few
phone calls I got in touch with a guy in the marketing dept at Pace HQ in
Chicago and he approved an exception for my trailer. It didn't hurt that
he's a FF driver. That offer has ended, but their may be a new one. Check
the SCCA site.

the place and 75 is about 10 minutes away. I must not have seen your post,

Hi Lee,
Good to see another Zink with a Kaw. My car has the oil injection
operational and have had no problems. The main reason we did
not remove it, was to keep the car original. I don't believe Autocross
requires the oil injection to be hooked up. The only issue may
arrise if you decide to run the car in Solo I where fuel sampling
could be a problem. We had thought about running some time trials
just for fun, so ours is still hooked up.

Drivers Suit - Get for the best rating that you can afford. Should
something go wrong, and there is a fire, you are buying yourself time to
get to safety. One other note on the drivers suit, and this may be just
me; but I get blisters just below my shoulder blades due to the gusset at
the arms. If I were to purchase another driving suit, I would avoid the
arm gussets.
Fire resistant undergarments - These not only provide you another layer of
protection against fire, but they also help protect your drivers suit. I
personally like the Carbon X underwear, others say that it is not as
breathable as the more common Nomex.
If you don't have a helmet already, consider getting one specifically for
open wheel cars. They will have some sort of aero device which will help
prevent lift at speed. Believe it or not, your helmet will lift a little
on a long straight. I have the Simpson Valor, which has a small lip on the
lower portion of the helmet. It seems to work well.
Head and neck restraint. I did not purchase one last year when I started
racing, but I should have. My reasoning was that the SCCA would be
mandating something, and I didn't want to get stuck with a piece of
expensive safety equipment that I couldn't use the following year. The
SCCA hasn't yet mandated any head/neck restraint; however you should
consider it a mandatory piece of safety equipment. There are a number of
devices available, HANS, the R3, Hutchens Hybrid, and the ISAAC device to
name a few.

Since you'll be in an open cockpit car, you'll need arm restraints. Have

Tear-offs for the face shield (I like the Speedstack ones.) And a shield
protector so the tear-offs don't scratch your shield. (Pegasus)
I don't know where you are, but if it gets cold and wet or hot and humid
a Fog City anti-fog overlay for your shield. I used a Fog City Hyper
Optiks one that is also photochromic. These are available at most decent
motorcycle shops.

and related equipment? I can get a good deal on Alpinestars... do
