Ahhh Dave, never saw a request like that in the 6+ years I have been on the MAC. Perhaps you're mixing the CRB with the SEB/MAC? :-). It's in the rulebook and should someone wish to be a pain in the ass they could protest you. You could beat them with a stick later, but there's probably something in the rules that say you can't do that either. I think this is a stupid rule for solo, requests have been made to change it but the MAC and SEB have always refused. Would like to see it changed to oil injection or pre mix optional. It would just be one less area for potential failure of an engine.
