Two weeks ago I thought I had the carbs finally dialed in. This weekend
I had to replace a head gasket that was leaking just a tiny bit of
water. While I was messing around, I drained the fuel tank (didn't know
how old the gas was) and filled it back up with fresh racing fuel at a
45:1 mix.
I cranked the motor and the idle was back down to 900 rpm ( where it was
before adjusting the carbs two weeks ago). I now have the idle screws
all the way in, the air screws 2 turns out (plugs look great!). I had to
adjust the throttle cables at the top of each carb to get 1800 rpm.
So, after this long winded explanation, how much space should be under
the slide when the carb is adjusted right. I know everyone's may be a
little different, but it just seems weird that I have to have the idle
screw cranked all the way in.
