Lee, Yes, you are correct about getting lots of seat time and development during your off weekends - test, change it & test again - repeat the process. The first day I was rusty even with the Friday practice. I screwed up my best run - the 3rd one - when I stopped for a down cone in my line, then went off course on my re-run so Dan got me by .6 second on Saturday. On Sunday, it started to rain as we went to the grid (fifth heat) and we played Nascar pit stop swapping slicks for the rains and then back to slicks again when the sun came out after 10 minutes. The Sunday course was much faster as I crash landed over the one hump in the site at 68 mph and knocked off my loose chain (new chain). I got a quick tow back to the grid, declared a technical, we got the chain back on and tensioned it along with more air in the tires. Dan made his run and I jumped the hump again flat out and this time no metal bang so I beat Dan by .3 second on Sunday but not enough to catch him overall. The car felt very good and the rest is me getting my edge back and that takes lots of seat time in my case. Jim, Congrats to you and your co-driver on the great runs at the Dixie Tour. Looks like I need LOTS of practice!
