For many years I ran KBS spun aluminum wheels with aluminum silicone sealant & five button head bolts holding the halves together. They are the lightest wheel but have good strength; I suspect that they gain strength from the mounted tire. The only problem that I have is a slight bending if you are not careful when swapping tires. My tire place is a specialty store and they use a rim clamp tire changer. The bending happens on the edges while turning the wheel - it was usually slight. A couple of years ago, I spec'd out several sets of Kodiak wheels with red centers from Daryle who did everything that I asked and I was pleased even though they have about 20 bolts to hold the three pieces together. Then I tried to mount my first set of tires. Using a rim clamp tire changer, the shell just folded right over, it was actually softer than the KBS. I had this bent wheel fixed. So, we went to a center clamp tire changer and had much better results as long as you were careful along the edges. I also discovered that the bead area for the Kodiak's does not seal as well as the KBS's so I now routinely use bead sealer 100% around the Kodiak's to avoid slow (sometimes fast) leaks. The Kodiak's are heavier than the KBS's but prettier. Bottom line is that the Kodiak's are like a beautiful woman - gorgeous to look at but expensive to own. I hope that this helps.
