Use cotton thread. In the case of a fire, the cotton will burn and the patch will fall off. Don't use nylon thread because it will melt. You can test the thread by burning it with a match. If it burns through, fine. If it melts like plastic, don't use it.
Some do use Nomex thread. I have read both opinions, but I want my patches to come off instead of burning in place if I ever have to deal with that. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Christopher Eveland Sent: Friday, March 16, 2007 9:15 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [F500] SCCA Patch Hi all, When sewing the SCCA patch on my new driver suit, do I need to use nomex thread or anything? The patch doesn't look fire proof or anything, so I'm guessing not, but don't want to mess up.
