Chris, Assumption on your part !- Yeah I have a 04 R1 motor available for
reference. So I do understand my bike motors. My bike experience-Six years
of CMRA_WERA motorcycle roadracing w/ heavy emphasis on endurance racing. 4
more years of AMA. I do know these things. I can tear down a Yamaha in my
sleep coupled with several ounces of Scotch.-haha
And yes, I know the annual cost (Nat'l/Regional) for pistons for my Rotax
has been less than half of cost of my four cylinder Yam, Hon and GXR motors
(also GasGas). I know yearly piston cost for J. Palmer, who has gone to
runoffs for the past two years is: 1 piston for three seasons on his
Huelings. He does use near stock jetting and non Wal Mart premix !!! So, we
know Palmer likely shopped E-bay and got a deal-Whats that add up to? 150
bucks w/ rings over a three year period. Maybe spend the cost for a new
Huelings and sleep well knowing it wont cold sieze on you every trip out of
the box.
Now! That's good cheap racing. Come back to the dark side Chris. Ebay that
Honda motor and join us at the track. We wont tell any of your buddies that
you wandered into foreign made Territory for a while.

engine oil systems are, but I think West Racing probably knows more than the
both of us, look at their website, call them up, they use a wet sump system,
it
works.....
There are also a couple of atleratives, or hybrid systems. You can use
the
stock oil pump with a drysump pan, with a external scavenge pump. These
pumps
are pretty cheap and they can be mounted where the water pump is driven
from.
Then you use an electric water pump. The drysump pan is basically a flat
plate
on the bottom of the cases with 4 pickups to scavenge the oil.
What do you think the yearly piston invoice is for a national level
Rotax?
