A solution is to just let allow all the dreaded "mix and match" parts and
see what happens.
Probably nothing will happen except that there will be one less thing to
whine about .
The CRB has a bizzare sense of humor asking for other solutions now when it
was their very own 50 pound weight penalty which effectively killed the
popularity of the 493.

I understood the post , thier wording is a bit to be desired it could have
better been explained like this
The CRB welcomes input from the F500 community on the "next generation"
engine considering that the 493 engine is no longer available.
CURRENTLY there there is room for building non-detectable, non-compliant
motors
using stock components.
some of you may not know this but there are several different timed rotary
valves that come STOCK in the 494 so you have more than one choice! there
are also 2 different sized pistons that are called out from rotax that are
STOCK) of course the ones that come from rotax for the 500 cars are pretty
sloppy you can actually order the slighly larger diameter piston and it
fits a bit tighter.
I am assuming they want to eliminate the possibility of mix and match parts
that result in significant hp gains.specifically the valves.
and the last part reworded to what i think they were actually trying to
say.......
While an immediate solution is not necessary because there are still
non-Rave 494 engines and parts available, there is a need to look at other
options for the future.
personally i would like to see the susuki 500efi engine that is beeing used
in the arctic cats put on the list , lets face it every few years were
going to see the engine models change.
switching to 4 strokes wont cure the problem either, its the same thing
these bike engines get switched up just as much if not more than the 2
strokes.

You guys have been having a lively discussion here on this forum about the
different engine options, and now is your chance to voice those opinions
to the CRB and BoD. Please gather your thoughts into an email to the Club
at [EMAIL PROTECTED] and [EMAIL PROTECTED] Please do not ask for my thoughts as I
don't want even the *whiff* of a hint that I am attempting to influence
the outcome one way or another. Just write your own thoughts down. Give us
the pros and cons and the reasons you support your choice(s). Thanks! Stan
