We are all concerned about our numbers for this year so I would propose a
little aid to help us get our Nat'l & regional numbers up. Can everyone who
knows a regional only competitor, ask them to make Nat'l application and
write a letter for them vouching that they are safe and suitable for Nat'l
competetion to SCCA. It may help them skip a race/school and get them in
our ranks sooner.
Second, can we all dig out our old cars, or at least our old motors belts
etc and offer to loan, rent etc. our cars to those who are about to take
drivers school with SCCA. IE - your crew members, wife etc. But please no
renting your car to your spouse,remember it belongs to you both in community
property states.
Third, trade your car for a day or a session to an already accomplished
driver for a track day or regional etc. You may find that you hate driving
street based cars (even if its a Porsche). But in contrast, the street
driver may fall in love with the economics of F5, the tire prices, etc. The
speed will suprise them too. We think our cost to be competetive is bad,
they spend fortunes by comparison.
Last, show your friends! If they have never seen your car except in
pictures, drag them over for a beer, put them to work shaving tires and let
nature take its course.
