J.D.,
I did not spin...The shoebox in front of me did. I was tight between two others
and had nowhere to go.
Either that, or my car (Jay's) felt a fatal attraction to one of those sexy SRF
rear ends and decided it was mating season.
Maybe we'll be having a Baby Grand in the Spring....
Either way, thanks for the info. Clint broke a belt, I broke a belt, Lyle and
Chuck broke their cars (with help),
and Berman broke a record.
BTW, many times that I do spin I keep the gas on for that reason (to keep the
wheels going forward). It works if i can react fast enough to straighten it in
time and in the right direction. If it's a slow spin, I let off.
'Till next time,

Subject: [F500] Blowing a clutch belt

Eric,
The next time you go backwards at speed in a F500 and push on the gas while
going backwards (like in a spin), you have fatally wounded the clutch belt.
With the secondary clutch going in the opposite direction (car is going
backwards) and your pushing on the gas you stretch the living hell out of the
clutch at the bottom of the rotation. It will look fine afterwards but its
time
is over as you found out. Just replace the clutch belt and throw it away.
