The following email was sent to me yesterday by Cory's wife Anne Marie (we were out of town and I've just read this):

----------------------------------
Friends and Family,

Cory's Mom, Marion, passed away yesterday morning at the Baptist hospital hospice facility. She had been taken to the hospital the week before with liver failure. There will be a visitation at Memorial Park on Tuesday, from 5-7 p.m., with a service on Wednesday at Lord of Life Lutheran Church (tentatively 2 p.m.)

Her two-year battle with metastasized cancer was a painful one, and we know she is finally at peace. This past year in Belmont Village assisted living gave her many new friends and good memories. She really enjoyed her bingo several times a week (as evidenced by the large stash of "Bingo Bucks" we found in her room) and even took a computer class!

Her daughter Lorna's wedding in December was the highlight of her year. Attached are a couple of very recent photos, one of her with Cory at Easter and one with my niece Julia, who she got to hold and play with just two weeks ago.[Obviously I have not attached these photos to the mailing list] I know that she really enjoyed babies and, of course, ALL animals. That's how I will remember her most--as having instilled a love of animals in both Cory and Lorna, who is a vet. She was also a devoted Team McLeod crew chief for many years and was even Cory's only crew on some trips.

Cory and his family are doing well and truly appreciate the support and prayers they've received from all of you during this time.

Love,
Anne-Marie

------------------------------------------

Many of you knew Cory's mom, Marion. She was his only crew member for many years. I told Cory once that I had always thought his parents were divorced because his mother was the only one who traveled with him. It turned out his Dad worked on Saturday's and until he retired he was unable to go with them. But Marion was always at the track. She'd help Cory set up the paddock area, she'd work on the car, make lunch, visit with everyone and help him load and unload....she was his crew. She was one of my favorite track friends and I'm going to miss her terribly.

Cory, Anne-Marie and Alex, you will be in our thoughts and prayers in the coming weeks. Marion was a special person and we feel our lives have been enriched for having known her.

Julie and Rusty
